On Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 4:34 A.M., a man was seen walking in an alley between two businesses at a shopping center at 9001 Cashew. Moments later, the man broke the glass front door to the Casabe Venezuelan Restaurant. Once inside, the man stole a jar containing tips and then made his way to the cash register. He managed to open the register and stole the cash drawer. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. He is a Hispanic male in, his early to mid-20s, 5’7” in height, with a thin build. He was wearing a gray baseball cap with a logo on the center, and a dark green hooded sweatshirt with a possible flag design in the front.

On Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 3:45 A.M., a man used a large rock to break the glass front door to the Dollar General located at 8500 Dyer. The man burglarized the store walking to the beer section and taking at least two 18-packs of beer. The suspect dropped two other packs of beer in the burglary. The man appears to be a Hispanic male, using a blue shirt to hide his face. He was wearing a gray tee shirt, blue denim jeans, and boots. Investigators found evidence that the suspect may have fled into the neighboring Villa Ciento Apartments at 8604 Dyer.

On Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 6:36 P.M., a woman was walking to her vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment building on the 3236 Frankfort. As the woman approached her vehicle, a man ran towards her armed with a handgun. The woman ran and the suspect chased her. The man grabbed the woman, threw her to the ground, and stole her purse. The suspect ran from the scene north on Copia. The suspect is a Hispanic male in, his late teens or early 20’s, thin, 5’8” in height, and described as having Asian-looking eyes. On the day of the robbery, he was wearing a black hooded jacket, dark gloves, dark jeans, and white athletic shoes.

On Monday, May 8, at 10:20 P.M., the suspect entered the Circle K store located at 12190 Montwood. The man ran behind the counter when the clerk momentarily stepped away. The suspect managed to grab a small undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene. Moments later the suspect went to the Circle K at 1135 Joe Battle. In this case, the suspect selected various items and then went behind the counter. The man threatened the clerk and implied that he was armed with a gun. The suspect stole a small amount of cash and fled. The suspect is described as being in his 20’a and was wearing a black beanie, gray hooded jacket, gray sweat pants, dark socks, and black Nike brand sandals.

The suspect threatened the clerk’s life and walked out with $463.08 in cigarettes, and a Slurpee.

On Saturday, April 29, at 3:11 A.M., Officers responded to a call of a vehicle that had crashed into a yard at the 5900 block of Ameen. The driver, 27-year-old Daniel Antonio Mergil was taken to the hospital but did not survive. The investigation revealed that Mergil was shot. Investigators believe the shooting may have taken place near the 6100 block of Ameen. Mergil left behind a wife and a young child. Investigators are certain someone knows who was involved in the murder of Mergil.

On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 1 P.M., two men walked into the El Fandango Grocery store located at 1928 Olive. One of the men approached the store clerk, pulled out a handgun, and demanded money from the cash register. The clerk was unable to open the register. Both suspects walked towards the door to exit the business, and each grabbed a package of cookies and fled. Both men appear to be Hispanic. The suspect with the gun is in his late teens, has a thin build, a light complexion, and had his eyebrows shaved off. The second suspect is in his early 20s, has an average build and height.

On Thursday, February 18, 2021, 39-year old Jose Guzman, was traveling with his family on Joe Battle. Guzman became involved in a road rage incident with another driver.
Guzman exited Joe Battle and pulled into a parking lot at 1201 Bob Hope. The suspect also exited and pulled into the parking lot. Guzman exited his car and walked toward the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect accelerated his vehicle towards the victim, struck him and fled. Jose Guzman died days later from his injuries. The suspect vehicle is a 4-door red or burgundy car and will have damage to the front right side.

On Wednesday, October 23, at 4:50 A.M., a man arrived at St. Stephan’s at 1700 George Dieter. The man approached the glass doors of the church and began to engrave letter markings or graffiti on the doors permanently damaging the glass. The estimated damage to the church is $3,000. The suspect appears to be a white male with a light complexion, in his late 20s to early 30s and has visible tattoos on his left arm and both legs.

On Monday, August 8, 2022, four vehicles were burglarized in the Lomas Del Este neighborhood. Investigators found the burglarized vehicles on Loma Adriana and Loma Jacinto. The security video from several homes recorded the suspects opening doors to various vehicles and ransacking them for items to steal. The suspects appear to be in their mid-teens to late teens. Investigators are certain that someone has information on these teen burglars.

On Sunday, June 12, 2022, at 12:35 A.M., 20-year-old Alyssa Rae Clinger crossed the 1500 block of Lee Trevino. She was walking from the west curb to the east curb when a truck going south struck her. The driver did not stop and fled the scene southbound on Lee Trevino. Clinger was critically injured in the crash and died days later. Clinger was an active duty soldier at Fort Bliss.
Investigators found evidence that the suspect vehicle is a dark-colored, GMC Sierra pickup truck or Chevrolet Silverado. In addition, investigators found a video of two men who are believed to have been in the truck. The truck will have front-end damage from this crash. Investigators know that someone in our community knows who this driver is.
